170501 Sailing on the Rhein River and Visit to the Hydro-station

On the 1st of May, 2017, Auntie Ruth drove us to Argotech where Kurt and Margrit Roppel works in Ormalingen. He told us the work was established for 27 years now and what he does is to examine welding seals if there are porous or holes in them. He uses the X-Ray to test these materials (eg. metal tubes used in chemical industries or gas pipe lines). He ran examples of these test for us to see and it was really interesting. We came home from there.

At about 13:45 we went to the hydro power station at Augst Kraftwerk built on the Rhein river which is closer to the hydro power station in Germany also on the same Rhein river. It was built in 1900. This man who was an attendant there called Hr. Rychener who took us round through the turbine rooms. He said there were 2 different turbines there namely Straflo turbine which are new and 6 in number and Francis turbine which are 4 in number. The Straflo turbines are automatically operated and its efficiency is 94% and that is what is being used now but for the old Francis turbines are shut down until the water level is very high before it is used. The 6 Straflo turbines are able to produce about 26.3MW of power. The whole big place is operated by only 6 people and everything there is automated, I think this is strange, with the number of people who have job in the country.

We were fortunate to join one of the boats that travels from Rheinfelden to Basel Dreilanderech on the Rhein river for fun and relaxation. It was fantastic and superb. I was amazed about the engineering work at its peak. There was a mechanism that could level the boat to about 6m deep to be leveled with the water for a big gate to open for the boat to move to Basel. This system was built for about 100 years and it is still functioning correctly. It was spectacular, wow.

170430 Going to Church to Worship GOD

On Sunday the 30th of April, 2017, After breakfast, I was happy to visit a Swiss church for the first time and it was different from ours in Ghana, but anyway we love the experience. We meet Fabian the organist who was also friendly to us and came home after one hour.

After lunch, we set off to Auntie Ruth's friend who was also called Aunt Ruth for her birthday at Fullinsdorf. When we got there, we knocked and immediately she opened the door we all sang happy birthday song for her and she was very much excited and we presented her a flower and had a meal with her and her husband.

We moved from there to Frenkendorf to visit Auntie Ruth's cousin Aunt Margrit Roppel and her husband Kurt. Now I can fly a plane because of Kurt, wow. I couldn't believe myself flying a plane. He said there are three bigger airports in Switzerland, one in Basel, in Zurich and in Geneve and 35 smaller airport. HE asked us where we wanted to move this plane to and back and we chose from Basel to Zurich and back to Basel, it was marvelous. After the excitement we had a meal and went for a work. Auntie Ruth and Margrit, Emmanuel and myself, we went to a farm house to buy apples and eggs and we walked back home. We had a dessert and from there came back to Arisdorf.

170429 Fantastic Saturday

On this fantastic Saturday, the 29th day of April, 2017 after having our breakfast, we had to clean the car that takes us round everyday. We washed the Auntie Ruth's car and the green car and after which we cleaned in the inside with the vacuum cleaner. We did a neat and a clean washing. During the washing Patrick the painter came with his daughter Emy. After we finished washing, Auntie Ruth went with her car to pick Comfort the wife of Patrick, Comfort's friend, Serwa and Serwa's son, Kofi Asante for the preparation of the local fufu.

Patrick started with his painting and Comfort and her friend also started preparing the food. Emmanuel and Auntie Ruth also went for shopping and I was also taking care of the babies around. When Auntie Ruth came back the cassava and the plantain was ready for pounding. I pounded the whole fufu and Emmanuel was taking care of the babies and when we finished the table was set and Auntie Margaret arrived. Auntie Ruth also tried to pound the fufu and she was scared to hit the hands of the one turning the fufu in the mortar and she was excited and she also had fun

We all ate together and a while Auntie Verena also arrived to join the table of black local fufu. The meal was nice and we all enjoyed it. It was the first time for Auntie Ruth, Auntie Verena and Auntie Margaret for them to taste fufu and they all enjoyed it. It was fun.

170428 Visit to Auntie Theres and her husband Uncle Werner.

Today the 28th of April, 2017, we had our breakfast and from there we went with Auntie Ruth to her school to help her paste some papers in her school kids book to help them learn effectively. When returning home, we passed by the church place and went inside to see what was inside. We saw a candle that she said was replaced in every Easter and that candle was lighted during occasions like weddings, out-dooring and funerals and we came home from there.

It was a little bit sunny today so we cut woods and packed them. They were nicely arranged. After we finished, we had some straw berry drink and prepared to leave to Aunt Theres place at Solothurn (Witterswil).

We had lots of fun at her place. We were welcomed very well when we got there, they took us round their garden and from there we come to the dining table and we had an enjoyable meal. After the meal we had a work to the Allemann Garden where beautiful and nice flowers are produced and sold. Auntie Ruth bought a nice flower for her friends birthday tomorrow. We came back to Aunt Theres place, sat for a while and left home to Arisdorf. On our way, we passed by Florence Develey's church where we will be having a workshop. From there we came back home to Arisdorf. I cant forget the moment with Aunt Theres, it was funny, lovely and fun.

Later in the evening, we had a surprise visit from Florence Develey, we sat to eat and drink with her, chat a little while and she left because she was going to have a long day tomorrow. It was fun chatting her.
