260525 - A Visit to Basel Town

On this day at about 11-12:00, PP and I went for a historical visit to the Basel Town. On our way, we first went to the Roman city of Augusta Raurica in Augst to see some of the buildings they put up close to the Rheine River (Link for reading can be found here: Augusta Raurica | Website of the Roman city of Augusta Raurica in Augst...

From there we headed straight to Basel and saw a lot of beautiful traditional arts of Basel. We went to their harbour and saw these boats that people have parties on. I saw the sand restaurant and the point where the Rhein river divides the 3 countries (Switzerland, France and Germany) (Link for reading can be found here: Dreilandereck (Border Triangle), Basel). From there we went to find a parking spot and went to the Basel town. One our way we saw this statue and there got to understand why Swiss code has "CH" meaning CONFOEDERATIO HELVETICA (Link for reading can be found here: Why is Switzerland “CH”? Behind the Swiss Country Code). We also saw the expensive hotel in Basel which is also called the 3 KING Hotel just at the bank of River Rhein. According to PP, there are about nearly 50 museums and about 250 fountains of water. We visited a few of them and also saw the Basel government house, it was a nice building.

We went to the museum of music but it was closed and headed to the Historical museum of Basel where the Artifacts (coins used in those Roman empire days used) that were found in Arisdof by the farmer that I wrote about yesterday. But we were told to come on a particular day and at a particular time. From there we went to the FASNACHTSBRUNNEN JEAN TINGUELY (Link for reading can be found here: Tinguely-Brunnen), it was a beautiful fountain with real engineering.

We also went to the Munsterplatz Cathedral Square (Link for reading can be found here: Munsterplatz in Basel | Visit A City) and there I saw the Wheel of Life which symbolizes stages of life (Some times you can be up and at other times you can be at the side and after some time you can down). From there we went back to the car and somewhere close to the river, I saw the walls of Basel which has 5 Gates. I was able to see 2 of the gates. From there we came back home, I rested a while and we had our delicious dinner with Auntie Ruth.
